Starock Group's $10 million Long Beach development project

The developer said an unidentified insurance company could move jobs out of New York if the deal falls through. Real estate developer Starock Group has proposed a $10 million plan to renovate a vacant medical center in Long Beach, New York, for the top two floors of the Sunrise Sports Medicine Center at 367 W. Park Ave. The insurer, whose identity hasn't been disclosed, would rent 22,000 square feet of the building, while the ground floor would be used by a retailer. The developer is seeking tax breaks from the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency (Nassau County) for sales-tax exemption of up to $258,750 on the purchase of construction materials, supplies and furnishings, and up to €52,500 off the mortgage-recording tax. If the project proceeds, the insurance company would relocate 50 employees from its current office from its location in Long Island.
