Habermans’ Free Halloween House Show in Long Beach
Singing pumpkins, a flying Zero and dozens of costumed figures light up this Long Beach corner house every night through Halloween. Jeff and Ann Haberman have run a free Halloween house show in their home in Long Beach for 14 years. The couple's Halloween display features pumpkins, film clips, fog effects, and costumed figures. The current setup uses 28 computers to coordinate lights, moving spotlights, film clip, music and smoke. The city of Long Beach's Noise Control Program confirms amplified music is among the sources covered under its Noise Ordinance, but does not specify a decibel limit or schedule for this display. Jeff Haberman, a retired controls engineer and Disney veteran, created the Halloween show and is preparing a Christmas version. After Halloween, the Habermans plan to start a monthlong Christmas show on Dec. 1.
