LONG BEACH, CA — A suspect shot at a car near Veterans Park Tuesday night, but missed the driver according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 100 block of Canton Street at about 6:23 p.m. When LBPD arrived they spoke with the driver of the car, who was uninjured. "The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in his vehicle when an unknown male adult suspect discharged a firearm towards him, striking his vehicle," LBPD said in a statement.

Police found evidence that a shooting had occurred in the area, but the suspect had fled the scene before LBPD arrived. The victim was "uncooperative" with the investigation, LBPD said. No other injuries were reported in the incident and no suspect information is known. The investigation remains ongoing, police said,
