The popular family attractions that have become synonymous with summer in Long Beach will soon return to Alamitos and Bayshore beaches. Long Beach's Inflatable aquatic playgrounds will return to the beaches of Alamitos and Bayshore Beaches this summer, starting June 14 through Sept. 2. The Wibit inflatable aquatic playground allows for free and active water play throughout the summer. The structures will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with visitors required to pass a swim test and each child under 9 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Life jackets and personal floatation devices are not allowed while playing on the playgrounds. Officials acknowledge that there is some risk to aquatic-based recreation, which is often challenging and strenuous.

shores of Alamitos and Bayshore Beaches this summer, officials announced Monday. The Wibit inflatable aquatic playground gives families the opportunity to enjoy free and active water play all summer long starting June 14 through Sept. 2. Residents and visitors will be able to play on the structures daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“These waterplay structures have enhanced recreation at our City beaches for kids and the entire family to enjoy,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “I am excited to welcome Long Beach’s aquatic playgrounds back again this year to provide residents with free and fun water activities over the

summer.” Alamitos Beach's structure, which is located south of Ocean Boulevard and east of Shoreline Drive, includes many floating structures such as springboards, bouncers, monkey bars and other elements.

Bayshore's structure, which is located at 5415 East Ocean Boulevard, includes multiple climbing structures, bouncers and domes. “Residents have been waiting for the return of these fun floating structures at Alamitos Beach all year,” said Vice Mayor and Second District Councilwoman Cindy Allen. “I’m glad they are back for the summer, and I look forward to seeing residents and visitors climbing, jumping and having a blast in the water. I'll be out there, and I hope to see everyone else too!”

To best enjoy the structures and provide the safest experience, city officials advised visitors to follow these rules:

• All participants are required to pass a swim test before accessing waterplay features;

• Each child under 9 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian;

• Life jackets and personal floatation devices are not allowed while playing on the playgrounds. Officials acknowledged that there is some risk to aquatic-based recreation is often challenging and strenuous. The City assumes no liability or responsibility for injuries sustained while using the two playgrounds, officials said in a statement.
