LBUSD is evaluating AI use in the classroom. They want parents’ and students’ opinions

Long Beach Unified has launched surveys to measure what students and families think about the use of artificial intelligence. Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD) is seeking parents and students' opinions about the use of artificial intelligence in classrooms, following public pressure to limit tech in schools. The surveys, which opened in October, ask students and parents about technologies that affect learning, well-being, privacy and attention. Grassroots groups have been pushing for reduced tech use in schools, arguing it harms students' learning and development, and costs the district significantly. Long Beach Unified is establishing a workgroup of teachers, students, guardians, administrators and industry experts to review the results and identify common themes. The findings, along with focus groups and research, may help shape policy recommendations.
