Long Beach Library ends STEM program for students due to loss of federal funding
The STEM learning program was launched in 2022 for middle school youth. Long Beach Library has ended its youth STEM workshop program, SEED, due to federal funding cuts. As a replacement, the library is launching the LBPL Creativity Lab. The program was funded for four years by the U.S. Department of Education and served over 500 students. The final day of the program was Sept. 30. This is part of a trend that has seen other local libraries shut down due to the cuts.
