The award recognises high levels of academic and competitive success over the past season. Silva, a transfer from Stanford, maintained a 3.71 GPA and was one of three Long Beach State players to compete in every single game during the season, leading the team to win the Big West Championship and advance to March Madness for the 10th time in program history. Nominees must hold a cumulative GPA higher than 3.50 and meet strict performance minimums in their respective sports for the award.
