Long Beach residents brace for more high tides
Long Beach residents along the Peninsula avoided serious damage from high tide, but concerns remain. High tide in Sunset Beach, California, caused significant damage to streets and properties. Residents Jeff Faught and Curtis Black, who have lived in Sunset for 25 and 16 years, said they tried various measures to protect their homes but were unable to keep the water out. The high tide also affected Pacific Coast Highway, which was closed between Warner and Anderson due to flooding. In Newport Beach, city crews mitigated flooding in the Balboa Fun Zone but still reached homes, including the Pirate House, Lido Park Drive and Newport Harbor Yacht Club. Residents continued cleanup efforts while reflecting on forecasts for higher tides later this year.
