One person was found dead Monday in a burned-out home in Long Beach.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 2400 block of Fashion Avenue around 7:30 p.m. after learning of the fire, said Capt. Jack Crabtree of the Long Beach Fire Department.

They arrived to find the one-story home with heavy smoke and fire.

After the flames were extinguished, firefighters entered the home and found a dead person.

Their identities have not yet been released due to the ongoing investigation. The fire brigade believes it is an elderly person.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains unclear.
